Dining Meeting with Demo
- Went really well
- Gave lots of good feedback
- Inventory management and taxes are two things we don’t want to have to deal with. If we work with them, they could help. It’s just an API call
- They really liked it
- Demo looked like….
- New Jetson with YOLO
- Weight scale and jig
- “What would it look like for us to integrate with dining dollars”
- We need to make sure this thing works and won’t charge crazy sums of money for no reason
- There is regulatory compliance if we are accepting payments
- It’s an API interface
- Bill through a HTTP request basically
- They implied that they want to see it at Imagine, and if it works we can talk about working with them in the future
Overall Next Steps for the Project
- We need to build this thing
- Come up with bill of materials
- Lots of software needs to be built
- API needs to be created to stores weights and images
Hardware
- Do we want to use a magnet to keep the door closed or a latch?
- Magnet
- 115lb of force so if someone yanks harder than that it will open
- Idea is if they want to break in they would just pull the magnet loose instead of actually breaking the machine
- Some potential downsides:
- Heat from electromagnets
- Wasted power (has to constantly run)
- If you unplug the machine…. unlimited access
- Latch
- Stronger than magnet but machine would actually break the machine if they want to break in
- After some discussion, sounds like latch has the majority vote
Vision/AI
- New Jetson is working with YOLO
- Wilson is going to create a script that will fetch the latest weights so that it can detect with the newest weights
- Today’s task is to have people take pictures of items. Asha will then develop a script to store descriptors
- After this, can’t really move forward until we have the API
- This project is officially Asha’s term project for advanced computer vision!! 🥳
- This better work guys lets get this shit going
UI
- Not many updates, Olivia is still working on final UI
- Isaac created the Qt project but hasn’t added any features yet
